Vessels as Form:
Coil Building with Marsha
During these January workshops participants will learn coil building techniques to create forms that allow for experimentation. Building layer by layer we will create vessels that are not just containers, but explore form in intuitive and conceptual ways.

Tuesdays and Thursdays through January
Handmade Serving Vessels: Functional Finishes
During these February workshops we will create functional serving vessels. We are going to explore a series of hand-building processes used to create functional dinnerware. We will also have the opportunity to utilize a robust cart full of textured objects and stamps to create personalized and unique designs.

Tuesdays and Thursdays through February
Spring Cornucopia: Introduction to Slipcasting
Using home brewed porcelain slip and a specially curated collection of plaster slipcasting molds we will create a series of one of a kind still-life sculptures. The slipcasting molds will include many forest creatures, spiritual figures, and contemporary found objects. We will then combine elements of the sculptures to create unique new mystical objects and composed scenes.

Weekend Workshop in February
What do our workshops include?
Industrial Tools and Materials
-
Our studio is outfitted with a variety of industrial clay working tools. Our slab roller allows artists to create compressed and consistent slabs of clay that can be used to build high-quality artworks and functional wares.
Our workshops include access to all tools needed for each project. This will often include curated specialty tools that allow our attendees to explore new and exciting ceramic art processes.
-
All workshops are all-inclusive. We supply premium clay and access to a large library of high-quality commercial glaze finishes. We've got everything you need to bring your project to life!
Small Group Instruction
-
All workshops take place in our dynamic and community-focused classroom. Attending artists experiment, problem solve, and work together to create unique artworks. Class sizes range from 8 to 12 people.
-
Our artists in residence and visiting guest artists bring lifetimes of knowledge, expertise and insight to each workshop. We curate meaningful and focused work sessions to help you develop creative skills while also making one-of-a-kind artworks.
Kiln Firing Services
-
All of our workshops include complimentary firings for the artworks you make. Halfway through each class, there will be a pause while we let your artwork dry before firing it to cone 04 (over 1900°F). This hardens the clay so that the artwork can be safely handled and glazed.
-
After your artwork has been bisque-fired, workshop sessions are dedicated to glazing and finishing each artwork. We use mid-range glazes which fire to approximately 2200°F. Our glazes include a wide variety of colorful glassy finishes, as well as many flat and textured glazes that can really make your artworks pop!
